Where is the Life Long Learning in Pharmacy Conference being held?

The Life Long Learning in Pharmacy Conference is using two venues for its events;
The pre-conference workshops being held on Friday 6 July 2018 will be located at the Queensland University of Technology, Gardens Point Campus, S Block, Level 4.

The main conference will be held at Rydges Hotel, South Bank – 9 Glenelg St, South Bank. The Welcome Reception will be held on the podium floor in the Soleil Pool Bar. The Gala Dinner will be held on the rooftop.

 

When does the conference begin/end?
The conference dates are 6 July - 9 July 2018.

The pre-conference workshops begin at 9am Friday 6 July 2018 for those who have purchased pre-conference registrations.

For all delegates, the conference commences at 6pm, Friday 6 July 2018 at the Welcome Reception.

The conference concludes at 3pm Monday 9 July 2018.

 

Where do I register?
If you are attending the Pre-Conference Workshops you will register at QUT. The desk will be located in the foyer of S Block. There will be volunteers in white t-shirts to assist you.

There will then be a desk set up on the podium level of Rydges Hotel South Bank from 6pm Friday 6 July.

 

Can I register for the sessions that I want to attend?
A pre-registration process will not be available for individual sessions. Please be aware that some sessions may be capped and will be run on a first in best dressed basis.

 

 

How will I receive my Gala Dinner ticket?
You will receive your Gala Dinner ticket with your badge. Please do not lose your ticket - you will need it to get into the event.

 

 

How do I choose my seat for the Gala Dinner?
Please see our volunteers at the registration desk for your Gala Dinner seating allocation, by Sunday morning 10:30am.

 

Is it too late to submit and abstract?

Yes, abstract submissions closed 5 February 2018

 

Will there be an App for the Conference?

Yes, there will be an App available for all delegates which includes the program, your own schedule, details about the speakers and host committee and more details.

It is recommended that you download the app before prior to the conference in order to prepare your schedule.

You can also locate the program within the app under the "program" icon on the home page.

You will also receive an abridged 'program at a glance' in your delegate bags upon registration.

 

Do I need to give consent for my abstract to be published in Pharmacy Education?
We will only publish your abstract if you give us your consent. You will have an opportunity give consent during your oral session, when your Chair will give you a consent form to sign at that time. For those with multiple authors, the presenting author who signs the form will be seen as consenting for publication on behalf of all authors of the abstract.

If you do not wish to give consent for this, your abstract will be withdrawn from the publication process.

What are my public transport options?

Driving/Taxi: Driving from either domestic or international airport to Rydges Hotel and South Bank area takes roughly 25 to 40 minutes. A taxi costs roughly $60.

To cross the river to and from the CBD you can either walk across the bridge or catch the CityCat (ferry).

The South Bank train station is also just a few minutes away from Rydges and is an affordable way to travel to any number of tourist attractions around the city.

 

 

Is there parking at the venue?

There is limited parking at Rydges Hotel. Delegate car parking is available at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre or the South Bank Public car park at a small fee. Both are within a short walking distance to the hotel.

 

Is Rydges Hotel close to shops and local attractions?

South Bank is a bustling metropolis with an abundance of things to do and see from a stroll through the scenic South Bank Parklands, to a dip in the Streets Beach lagoon or a visit to the Collective Markets on Saturdays and Sundays.

Take in the city from a different perspective as you take a turn on the Wheel of Brisbane, pop by the Riverlife Adventure Centre and hire a bicycle, kayak, rollerblades, or take a Segway tour of the city.

Brisbane's accommodation is at the heart of Queensland’s arts and entertainment precinct; with the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, Queensland Art Gallery, Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA), Queensland Museum, Queensland Conservatorium of Music all located on the hotel’s doorstep.

 

Is the hotel wheelchair accessible?

Yes, access and facilities for people who require wheelchair access are provided throughout the hotel.

 

Are there ATMs nearby?
A Commonwealth Bank ATM is located across the street from the hotel on Grey Street.


I am a chairperson, what should I do?
You will be provided with information in an envelope outlining your responsibilities as a Chairperson when your allocated session commences. Please liaise with the assigned volunteers as necessary to ensure a smooth running session.

 

What is the dress code for the conference?

The main conference:
Smart Casual or informal business

Gala Dinner:
Cocktail, with Australian Wildflower theme - add something floral (optional)!

 

I have special dietary requirements, what should I do?
You will have already provided us this information and the Rydges staff will prepare your meals separate.

If your dietary requirements relate to a life-threatening allergy please ensure you notify the Rydges staff.

 

How will I know of any changes to the program?

Any changes made to the program or related matters will be announced during house keeping notices each morning.

 

What food is included in my registration?

You will receive morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea on the days you have registered for.

You will receive canapés at our Welcome Reception on Friday 6 July after 6pm.

If you have purchased a Gala Dinner ticket, you will receive a 3 course meal on Sunday July 8 from 7pm.
