The Physiology of Teaching: Getting the balance right

Gabrielle Brand’s keynote focuses on teaching, using the metaphor of the human body systems, she discusses how the art of teaching, including the conditions in which students thrive can remedy longstanding curriculum diseases. Based on the concept of a living curriculum, this session will cover student engagement, social and collaborative learning, active knowledge construction through curiosity and creativity, and the importance of reflection in transforming teaching and inspiring learning.
Learning outcomes: Following the session, participants will be able to identify research-informed teaching and learning approaches and outcomes that scaffold student learning; list three successful strategies that support student learning and reflect on how they may transform their own teaching and learning practices.
